Charter of Oakhaven

"Sub Tegmine Quercus, Salus Populi"

(Under the Cover of the Oak, the People are Safe)

Enacted by the People of Oakhaven to provide for a local government that ensures the health, safety, and prosperity of all residents within its geographic boundaries.

Article I: Incorporation and Powers Section 1.01: Name and Boundaries

The municipal corporation heretofore existing as the Village of Oakhaven is hereby continued as a City. Its boundaries shall encompass the Everway River to the West, the Greenhills slopes to the North, and the industrial Soundfield limits to the South.

Article II: The City Council Section 2.01: Composition

The Council shall consist of five (5) members elected at large. One seat shall be reserved specifically for the Riverside & Commerce representative to ensure the stability of the Market Road trade corridor.

Article III: Municipal Management Section 3.01: Protection of Public Resources

The City shall maintain perpetual stewardship over the Everway Bridge and the public docks. No private entity shall restrict access to the riverfront without a 2/3 majority vote from the Council.

Article IV: The Historic Oaks Section 4.01: Preservation

Recognizing the namesake of this City, all White Oak trees exceeding one-hundred years of age within the Greenhills district are designated protected heritage assets. Removal of said trees requires a permit from the Bureau of Parks & Rec.
